This portrait was painted in 2004 by Keith Baldock, one of Richard Samuel’s sons. Keith is a talented artist, many of whose pictures depict life at sea for the trawlermen of Grimsby. This portrait features Keith’s father as he may have looked on the fateful day back in 1944. The ship in the background is the D.W. Fitzgerald, his regular ship. Behind that you can see the Grimsby Dock Tower, a very familiar landmark for both sailors and local landlubbers.
